Put CiCi on your home screen

CiCi installs from this page in about ten seconds. It gets its own icon, opens fullscreen with no address bar, and starts on the camera. Free, and it works signed out.

There is no app store download, and that is deliberate

CiCi is a web app. You install it from the browser rather than from the App Store or Google Play, which means there is nothing to download, nothing to update, and no 200MB sitting on your phone. When a rule changes or an ingredient is added, you have it the next time you open it — there is no version of CiCi to be out of date.

The trade-off is honest to state: installed this way, CiCi cannot send you a push notification on an iPhone unless you have added it to the home screen first, and it does not appear in a store search. What it can do is everything the scanner does, which is the part you are here for.

What you get for installing

What it costs

Installing costs nothing and needs no account. The scanner, every verdict, every ingredient and product page and the restaurant map are free permanently — that does not change once it is on your home screen.

CiCi Plus is the personal half: the glutening log, saved products, and carbohydrate ratios. 14 days free, then $29.99 a year.

If it does not appear

On an iPhone, Add to Home Screen only exists in Safari — Chrome, Firefox and Edge on iOS do not have it, because on iOS that menu belongs to Safari alone. Open askcici.com/install in Safari and the steps will be there.

On Android, if no install button appeared above, open the browser menu and look for Install app or Add to Home screen. Some browsers wait until you have visited once or twice before offering it.
