Is soy lecithin gluten free?

The answer

Yes, this is gluten free

Lecithin, the gums and the mono- and diglycerides are all gluten-free. They come from soy, sunflower, seaweed, citrus peel and bacterial fermentation, none of which involves a gluten grain. They appear in long ingredient lists and look industrial enough to worry people, which is the whole reason the question gets asked — the word that genuinely warrants a second look is the "modified" in modified food starch, and it is not one of these.

soy lecithin is covered by CiCi's entry on emulsifiers and stabilizers, which share this answer and the reasoning behind it.

Every one of these is the same ingredient. The number of names is a large part of why gluten slips past people who read every label.
